Sijangkang Mangroves
Sijangkang is a pristine mangrove swamp located south of Klang, approximately 50 minutes drive from downtown Kuala Lumpur. Mangroves are a unique habitat that is challenging to most reptiles and amphibians. As such the herpetofauna that can be found here are mangrove specialists with adaptations that allow it to thrive in this harsh environment.
This mangrove swamp is easy to navigate, we would be walking on a wooden boardwalk. It is also less mosquito-ridden than most mangrove swamps and is quite consistent for Mangrove Pit Vipers and Banded Kraits when the moon phase and tide conditions are right. However, the boardwalk can be slippery especially when it rains. Hiking shoes or trainers are recommended.
